In January 2017 Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus announced that the circus would close with the final performance in May. It may come as a surprise that Berlin was a regular stop for “The Greatest Show on Earth”. According to the Circus Historical Society the circus route books show that the circus came to Berlin on at least three occasions, July 12, 1905, June 29, 1922, and June 27 1959. On each of these dates, the show appeared in Lewiston Maine the day before and again in Sherbrook Quebec the day after. (click on the images to enlarge)
